"And this letter is for you. " The redcap offers it with his usual clumsiness, holding it between the two wooden apparatus. "It is from a wandering maga. I received it in Cunfins."
Most esteemed sodalis Argiodus
I hope this letter finds you well, and specially fortunate if it happened before the fall of the year of our Lord twelve hundred and thirty four. It has been seven years since our last meeting, and it would be poor for such kin souls like you and I to not exchange news at least once or twice in such a long span of time. How have you been? If you send a letter to Florum by the Summer of twelve hundred and thirty five, I am sure to receive your answer.
I have once visited Forêt de Compiègne, not so far from where you are currently residing. It is a wonderful place, a marvel in such a crudely abused land like Normandy, or should I say Lotharingia? I was young back then, still an apprentice, and I got lost from my committee. I have never been a stranger to woodlands, really, but this one baffled and confused me. It was than that I saw it, the most magnificent equine I ever laid my eyes on, White as snow everywhere its shine didn't blind me. It treated me with care and dignity, and some time later escorted me out of the forest. I was safely returned to my master to continue my training.
I never quite had the opportunity to visit the place again, and sometimes I mildly dread to not be so welcome if I do. But sometimes nobles do venture there, often some of the highest esteem, but other times some of minor note like the Baron of Compiègne. This last one is organizing a Hunt this Fall, the old buffoon is organizing a Unicorn Hunt to chose his Heir. As if someone of his irk could ever have the chance to catch such a magnificent beast as the Unicorn. It would be a true tragedy for all of Creation if such a disastrous thing were to happen.
I do have only the best of memories of you, and eagerly wait to hear your tales. Please burn this letter if you read it, and I will know it arrived its destination in time.
