As I've started to get into Benoit's advancement deeper and combed over our library as well as the library at Lapis Crudis Benoit would eventually promote the idea of trading some of our higher quality books for a certain number of years to get equivalent quality books in some of the Techniques and Forms that we are lacking. I believe the we've been talking about Redcaps like Anfonso engaging in more of this type of trading but I might be wrong. Whatever the case, do we have an avenue IC to approach this subject and make some deals. Below is a list of a few things that Benoit would love to see and I'm sure some of the other Magi might have some preferences of their own. Some books that I make mention of for trading below are valuable and I can totally see Benoit using them at some point but not in the short-term, thus he has the hope that we can make some deals on those books right away for a few years before books are returned to their original owners. Mons Mercurius Books: Desired Trade- Herbam Summa L14 Q7 (would love another Herbam book with a lower Level like 10 and a higher Quality)
- Terram Summa L15 Q15 (if we could get an Auram book with this level or even 1 or 2 higher and a Quality of 13+ that would rock)
- Ignem Summa L15 Q15 (is there any chance we can get a Creo or Muto book equivalent to this?)
- Auram Summa L11 Q13 (would love the equivalent in something like Aquam, Imaginem, or Animal)
- Muto Summa L8 Q12 (maybe Animal if we found an Aquam or Imaginem as described above)
- Finesse Summa L6 Q17 (any equivalent book in either Parma, Penetration, or Concentration would rock)
If I had list books based on priority of Benoit's need right now it would probably be something like this: Auram (high Level and Quality), Creo (high Level and Quality), Muto (high Level and Quality), Herbam (solid Level & Good Quality), Aquam, Imaginem, Animal Summa (about Level 8 and good Quality), and either Parma, Penetration of Concentration in that order (equivalent to our Finesse Summa)
Of course in a worse case scenario Benoit could try and quest for "lost" books during his adventures or maybe see if he can get access to Oleron's library. He might need to become Caprican's best friend or secretly bed the princess so that he has a STRONG advocate in court but hey....he is willing to make the sacrifice ; )
Let me know everyone's thoughts when they get the chance. *Cracks the whip on Alfonso*
Also, page 93 under Standard Texts in the Covenant Book mentions that some covenants try and buy what is called "The Branches of the Arts" which are widely accepted as the finest works in 8 of the Arts. I'm not sure if that would be an option but we are a wealthy covenant.

Actually I had posted a question on the Library thread skaing what kind of books did Benoit and Thanos want normandyonline.freeforums.net/thread/24/library?page=2We can arrange deals to copy books, but I dont think loaning is advisable. These books are probably some of the most valuable assets the covenant has. I also dont know if we can borrow & offer these books for trade, or if the "copyright" is from our (former) lieges (I think we agreed we couldnt, but i am not certain). Either way Thanos corpus summa is pretty good and we should be able to get a feel good deals with it. Wish list: Auram (high Level and Quality) - Benoit is already at a level that he would probably benefit more from studying tractatus rather than look for a better summa. Creo (high Level and Quality) - come on, we have a Creo Summa L13Q10! that is pretty good Muto (high Level and Quality) - same as auram... Herbam (solid Level & Good Quality) - we have L14Q7. Admitedly the Q is only average, but at a pretty high level Aquam - same as Atticus Imaginem - same as Atticus Animal Summa (about Level 8 and good Quality) - same as Atticus, Abilities Parma, Penetration Concentration We actually had fairly recent additions from atticus on Parma & Penetration, at L3Q11. We have some summa books that are insanely difficult to make, like the finesse book required someone to have Finesse ~16 (!)

I will check out your previous post on the subject.
Well when I mentioned loaning I was referring to a mutual loan with a book of equivalent Quality. That way there is little concern with losing one of our valuable resources because we have an equally valuable resource from them.
Wish list:
Actually ideally if we could find an Auram, Muto, or Creo book similar to our Terram and Ignem book he would study them to 15 and then start focusing on the Tractatus.
Obviously, this is more a wish list than anything. To me it makes more sense utilizing as many good or great quality Summae as we can get our hands on and then start using the Tractatti that we have available to raise our Arts to higher levels. I know these types of Summae are likely in high demand which is why I proposed loaning an equivalent book from our collection. That way there is little risk involved and we will still have access to our awesome Summae when we swap back. Anyhow, we can chat about it more when we are together. I was merely curious about how Covenants generally handle these things.
Abilities
Parma,
Penetration
Concentration
Totally agree with you. I am not unhappy about our library it's actually really good considering our youth. I was just saying a Covenant that doesn't have such a great Finesse Summa might be willing to swap for a couple years with an equivalent Parma, Penetration, or Concentration book. : )
