*Since Benoit met Margherite in Autumn of 1223 he has been "in love." Although Benoit was carefree enough to continue with his normal covenant routine and unique lifestyle, he has periodically tried to express his feelings to Margherite in a number of different ways over the seasons. While Benoit may seem soft to many, he is surprisingly resilient and thick-skinned when it comes to Margherite*
(Yan, over the last few years I have posted little notes in Benoit's calendar relating to Margherite. During those seasons he uses some of his free days to try and correspond with Margherite, although some of his correspondence inevitably leads to personal comments about adventures and other stuff that is going on, he even directs an occasional personal question her way always trying to learn more about her tastes, preferences and stuff. In other instances he creates poetry, often in a song-like format and has one of the talented scribes at the University write it down for him for some coin. Benoit is also fond of purchasing an occasional unique gift that he may come across in Paris or other places. Although he has visited in person once or twice to see to it that his Emerald of Windsong Desire was delivered and to teach the patrons in the Inn his song 'Queen of My Heart,' he has never before tried to solicit a formal invite until now during the Spring of 1230. I do not want to presume too much regarding his earlier efforts so I am going to address them below in a basic timeline format and perhaps you can call for some specific rolls (when you think necessary), and provide a little feedback or comments. I will wait to approach his Spring 1230 intentions so that I can get a vibe on how he may react to the way things seem to be going.)
Autumn 1223 - Benoit meets Margherite for the first time and is enchanted by her beauty even though she appears arrogant and demeaning to common folk, harsh, short-tempered, and cold. Benoit felt he charmed her impressively but he could not get a read on her. Still, he convinced her to take notice about the Tribunal politics that were playing out and she later became a supporter of the new Lotharingian Tribunal.
Spring 1224 - Benoit tries to correspond with Margherite about topics associated with Lotharingian and politics. He still comes across as pretty relaxed and charming....often flattering her in little ways.
Spring 1225 - Benoit sees to it that Margherite receives a bouquet of red flowers.
Spring 1226 - Benoit creates some basic poetry in song form but finds a scribe from the University to record it on parchment for some coin. He would then pay to have it delivered to her if feasible or drop it off himself. If this option is more likely he will probably establish a relationship with the Innkeeper at Cherbourg and try to establish a "poetry pipeline" from him to Margherite's servant that he charmed at first meeting.
Winter 1226 - Benoit visits Cherbourg to play some songs in the Inn and spend some coin on the Innkeeper and locals. He does not seek Margherite out but performs his first samples of the song her writing for her.
Winter of 1227 - Benoit tries to correspond with Margherite but the letter is more personal and he tells some funny stories in it. He also sees to it that she is given a large drinking skin of his favorite apple cider.
Summer 1228 - Benoit writes his song for her (Queen of My Heart / Q15) and purchases his Hippogriff egg. He also performs his new song around Paris.
Spring 1229 - Benoit creates the 'Emerald of Windsong Desire' and flies to Cherbourg to have it delivered to her.
Winter 1229 - Benoit tames Silkwing the Hippogriff and even spends time teaching Silkwing the route to Cherbourg . He enjoys singing Queen of My Heart to Silkwing who is a symbol of impossible love. Benoit sends a correspondence to Margherite asking her if she would be willing spend some time with him and telling her he has something he wants her to see. He is trying to arrange the visit for Spring of 1230.
(Yan, I believe this little storyline is worthy of a thread and even if it doesn't have great mechanical significance [although it sorta has already] I think it could have some juicy RPing significance. I pasted the proposed Emerald of Windsong Desire below so that you know what that is about. Technically this item is a creation for Rping purposes only...but it will cost Benoit a little. Take your time responding and let me know if you have any questions. I wanted to give you some basic details but not go overboard : )
Emerald of Windsong Desire (enchanted item -1 Vis)

This necklace is set with a small emerald. To activate the enchantment an individual places there hand over the emerald and requests that it, "sing for them." At that moment the emerald will create an image of Benoit playing his mandolin and dancing playfully in flames beneath his feet in a looping fashion. Furthermore the song "Queen of my Heart" can be heard and the song has a quality equal to Benoit's communication + music totals. The song quality also benefits from Benoit's Venus' Blessing as a result of him implementing sight, sound, and charming mannerisms in his performance. At the time of Benoit capturing this song within the emerald, his song quality total is easily high enough to capture the aesthetic quality of the song he has written (aesthetic quality 15). Benoit specifically created this item for Margherite of Flambonis. The song captured within is a love song he wrote for her. He intentionally limited the effect frequency to 1 use per day to try and instill a subtle longing to hear the song inside her. He considered the possibility that multiple uses per day would eventually result in her growing tired of the song.
