Yan, I just want to verify that we are going to wrap up the current Oleron plot hook in the forums? Here are some highlights regarding Benoit's time in Oleron:
* Benoit made fast friends with Quintinius and even agreed to share Aquam correspondence. Benoit rated Quintinius' cider at the best he ever had and he was granted a full skin by his new friend. * Benoit gains an arcane connection from Princess Columbine and some taverns in the area. The two exchange romance-inclined letters but Benoit is not allowed to see her or perform the song he wrote for the Queen because of mysterious events involving Regellus. * Benoit met the faerie Oberon and the two hit it off. They both played for each other and Benoit noticed the magical/unnatural way that Oberon played. Oberon gave Benoit a feather from Hyfonious the Blue. * Caprican supported (and was eventually won over by Benoit) and went along with the ruse that Benoit and Alfonso came up with to draw out an enemy of Oleron that was clearly plotting against Caprican. * The ruse was meant to make it appear that Benoit had challenged Caprican and perhaps won...but for some reason the challenge did not have a clear resolution. As a result, some chaos was unfolding and Caprican, his covenant, and perhaps Oleron itself, was suffering as a result.
* Although we came to the conclusion that Regelus was but a pawn to some secret enemy, Benoit wrote a song about his Oleron "victory," but also implied in the song, that perhaps Caprican was not fully acknowledging Benoit's victory or rights. Benoit proceeded to sing his song during the season (to sow this misinformation), and he even moved about Oleron as if he was indeed the new King. * Caprican went so far as to write Yacub of Merinita to promote this shocking turn of events. * Regellus claims that Benoit is slandering him, but it soon becomes clear (after Benoit plays a song for him) that Regellus seems to be under some sort of spell. Somehow Regellus is even aware that Benoit is the Son of the Wind Symphony...but he should not know of this title because Benoit has never shared it with anyone.
* When Benoit relays everything to Caprican, he is intrigued with Benoit's background but obsessed with the idea that some Tytalus is behind current events. * Benoit gives Caprican a lock of his hair to prove his trust and assure Caprican that he will keep Oleron's secrets safe. Caprican is shocked and impressed and tells Benoit that he knows he is good and honorable. * After carrying out the ruse, a challenge between Regellus and Benoit is agreed upon. Whoever wins the favor of a maiden of Mieulet first will win the challenge. During the negotiations, Regellus is impressed with Benoit's honor and approach and he asserts that he will not challenge Benoit again for 7 years if Benoit wins.
* Benoit wins the challenge after much chaos and despair. After spending the night with Clarisse, Benoit tells her that he is a Song in the Wind and he may return to her one day. She grants him her favor in the form of her scarf. * Alfonso appears to learn that a Tytalus apprentice sowed all the chaos at the festival, but some male Tytalus is behind everything. * Alfonso is later greeted by another Redcap bearing letters. Within appears to be the hidden enemy we were trying to draw out, because a Wizards War has been declared against Benoit. Also, there is a letter from a Quasitor accusing/discussing the claim that Benoit killed Regellus.
That is the general gist. It doesn't provide all the details but hopefully the main ones. I just came across your latest Adventure Rewards post with some details about the Tytalus that I missed. Thanks!

*With a little bit of time and practice, Benoit puts together the letter that he is going to send to Atlus. He then gives Shee access to it so that he can put it to memory and practice mimicing some of Benoit's mannerisms. He then quickly has Shee set about his task and requests that he return in haste if Atlus has a reply*
(Yan, please assume that Benoit is using all the appropriate titles and terms when addressing Atlus. I abbreviated in most instances to save time)
As Requested: only basic modifiers were used....no equipment, Venus' blessing or Way of the Town.
Charm Roll= 16 Etiquette Roll= 6 (willing to use a confidence to make that a 9 if possible)
I will away your introductory post before leading into the big performance : )
A Message on the Wind
I am not the most eloquent of men Sodales, but I would like to believe that my words hold some truth and power.
If you were to travel the breadth of this land and speak to anyone who recognized the name Benoit Windsong, I suspect you would get a wide range of opinions, but still a measure of consistency.
Some would probably brand me a free spirit, while others would choose less appealing expressions such as, “out of control, undisciplined,” or perhaps even, “rebel.”
Surely, many would claim that I am passionate and creative, and I would never deny that my heart burns hot and my mind is always anxious to conceive something wonderful and new.
Still, such bouts of fancy can make the mind wander and I am well aware that I often miss details as a result. There is just so much to taste, and see, and hear; so much to touch and do. Yes, I will not deny that I am at times inattentive.
So why do I ramble so? Why do I paint this picture to you now Sodales?
I do so in the hope that it will open your eyes Sodales.
I have a great love for life and have no desire to take a life, although I will do what I must to protect myself. Upon reflection, the events that unfolded at the feast, that may have washed over Sodales Regelus and took his life, appear to be the machinations of Tytalli, and one by the name of Okealas was involved.
I personally did not interact with this magus, but my companion, a Redcap named Alfonso did. He described an enchanted brew that likely ensorcelled the minds of those at the feast. So if Regelus is truly dead, and I hope that there has been some mistake, then Tytalli are at the very least indirectly responsible, since clearly the enchanted brew of Okealas, sowed chaos and violence at this feast.
If Regelus is truly dead Sodales, I am sincerely sorry for your loss. He was clearly an honorable soul, and a sight to behold.
Nevertheless, let me warn you that my companion Alfonso and I, we have come to believe that Regelus was somehow bewitched. When Sodales Regelus first approached me at Oleron, he challenged me and claimed that I had spoken despairingly about him even though we had never met before. He also referred to me by a title that nobody was familiar with besides myself. The whole incident was strange and awkward, and Regelus sometimes came across as confused or contradictory. It is truly disturbing, that some within our ranks feel it is appropriate to manipulate, divide, and outright threaten other Magi.
So in conclusion Sodales, I hope my words strum the chords of reason In your heart, for there was never a moment I had ill-will towards your Covenant-mate. Furthermore, I would much rather be your ally than a nemesis, for I suspect we have much in common…a love for the arts, and a high regard for honor and meaningful relationships.
Given your fine reputation, I would not believe that your actions are motivated by a desire to increase your power or prestige, for if that was your wish, truly you could boost both at my expense.
Thus it is my hope, that you are looking to defend the honor of your Covenant and perhaps ensure that justice is rendered in the name of Sodales Regelus, a working associate at the very least, but quite possibly, a friend as well.
If my words have found purchase within your heart, I humbly entreat you to respond to my missive and halt this declaration of war. I am calling for a Quasitor to confirm my claims, for I have nothing to hide Sodales, and I must admit that I am mildly incensed by the recent maneuverings of regional Tytalli. I understand that politics may also be at play here, but I have no desire to play in the destructive games conceived by men and women who would rather sow discord than peace. It is my great hope that you feel similarly.
Truly, Benoit

The little faerie watches in between mouthfuls as Benoit performs the message for him, then humphs at whatever it was that Benoit asked him before jumping and flying off in raven form. Quiver lets out a sigh of contentment and perches on the bed's canopy to sleep, while the magus sits on the windowsill to watch the gibbous moon and the stars, thinking of his performance the following day.
***
Everything was ready, Benoit and Afonso had been bathed and dressed elegantly - even Quiver, despite his resistance from being washed, marched proudly with a peytral and flanchard of silver and sapphires. It was all glamour, they knew, but it was breathtaking nonetheless and it served its purpose, for the court was astonishing, quite different from the sylvan experience of the last time he had attended. It seemed more formal and contrived, but also more magnificent and impressive in ways. Both the Queen and her Champion sat on a dais, Princess Columbine by their side and Oberon standing by. He announced their entrance with pomp and grace, calling Benoit "The famed Trouvere Windsong, Prince of Melody and Cadence, Minstrel of Mayhem, Paramour of Dream, Galemaster and Bearer of the Ring of Wanderlust Desire". The court was awash with murmurs and Benoit could see Little Mouse on the shoulder of a violet-skinned fey of boyish features and build, his lavender hair tied back with flowers and twigs. For but a moment their eyes met as he nodded at something Little Mouse whispered on his ear, but the Ex Miscellanea's attention was robbed at the Apple Queen addressed him, welcoming him to her Court and glade, that she had been hearing so many breezes about her song and that she was glad it was finally time for the whole gust.
(let's see what we can muster with a little more freeform!)

Scented baths, elegant clothes, all of it was quite intoxicating. Although Benoit was generally too capricious to seek out such luxuries on a regular basis, he was a very willing recipient when afforded them. Too bad such luxuries were seldom an option on the road.
The court was truly breathtaking and Benoit loved everything about it. Even Quiver seem to enjoy the attention and pomp. Surely Alfonso wasn’t suffering from all the extra attention. Of course Benoit conducted himself in a manner worthy kings and queens. While some might to describe the ceremony as “excessively engineered,” to Benoit it was art. The display before him was pure stimulation to all his senses.
As the herald announces his name along with several titles, some of which he had never heard until that moment, he bows with a flourish to the King and Queen respectively, then does so again towards the Princess, although his eyes lock with hers for but a moment. A more wonderful introduction Benoit could not hardly imagine. He loved the new titles granted him that moment, and in his mind he was determined to spread them far and wide in the future.
After sharing a passing glance with the violet-skinned fey being “counseled” by Little Mouse, Benoit’s full attention is drawn to the resplendent Queen welcoming him to her court.
“Oh Queen of queens, your hospitality and generosity know no bounds. Your Champion King Caprican’s stature, is only matched by his wisdom and grace. Your daughter Princess Columbine, radiates beauty and poise like the sun radiates light on a cloudless day!”
“The splendor and majesty of your court cannot be put into words. It is true that I followed my muse and crafted a song about Oleron and The Apple Mile as you requested many seasons ago. It is also true that I have entreated the breeze to hear my song and bear witness that it was created from inspiration after experiencing the wonders of your Kingdom.”
“Though my imagination my soar with eagles, the mind that constructs and the fingers that pluck are but flesh, and prone toward imperfections. Nevertheless, I shall share with you all the full measure of my passion, joy, and honor.”
After that Benoit continues to play his part in the ceremony and gathering. He remains humble and flattering throughout. He does not hesitate drawing attention to his companions and even honoring simple men like the guard who was willing to defend him against the Perigold Wolves when they were on their rampage.
When the ceremony eventually leads to the Town Center, where he performed the first time he visited Oleron, his performance before the audience starts well before he actually starts playing.
First he tries to energize the crowd by complimenting their home, their passion, and their hospitality. He shakes some hands, kisses some cheeks, and even renders a trick or two for the children. As he moves about the heart of the gathered crowd, he tells those assembled how he went about writing A Brighter Place as if it was some grand adventure in itself. He literally shares the creative sparks and moments of the songwriting, too further build their anxiousness.
Finally, Benoit takes a long draught of cider and picks up his mandolin. His volume is bold so that all may hear and his pitch ebbs and flows where appropriate. As he plays his eyes move about trying to make everyone feel like they’re a part of the performance…the noble family right down to the lowly peasant. He smiles and winks, spins about in an occasional flourish, he bends down on one knee singing to the Princess directly for a few seconds before leaping back up and trying to get the whole crowd to move and sway to the rhythm of the song. Finally, as the song begins to wrap up, Benoit even tries to get the crowd to start singing the chorus with him. One large crowd sharing their love for passion and music.
When his song is finished he bows deeply in front of the Royals
Ok Yan, I am going to assume that I need to make the following rolls:
Etiquette = roll (16 crit) + Etiquette (3) + Comm or Int (2) = 21 Total [I didn't include Way of the Town because I suspect the Etiquette occurred in the castle. I didn't include Venus' Blessing or Alluring the Faeries because I wasn't sure if it was appropriate.
Charm = roll (3) + Charm (5) + Comm (2) + Cloak (1) = 11 Total [For Faeries the Total is 14. For those attracted to Benoit the Total is 17. For females the Total is 18. I didn't use Way of the Town for the same reason as above]
Performance = roll (9) + Music (3) + Comm (2) + Mandolin (1) + Way of the Town (3) = 18 Total [If Venus or Alluring apply that would add to this total. I used Way of the Town because the performance was in the City Center]
** If it actually made a difference Benoit would use a confidence on any of these 3**
If there are any others that should be made just let me know : ) All the rolls are in Roll20 in the same order.

Afonso would later say that the faeries seemed mesmerized, from the smallest to the biggest, commoner and noble. And in fact, it was true, for the music and art of mortals has such a powerful effect on the fae that they can hardly help themselves - unless of course they play other roles. Similarly, the covenfolk and grogs, and attending magi seemed quite pleased and absorbed. It was a performance that would enter legend, one way or another. One more step in the construction of the tale of Windsong.
As the last note is played and hangs in the air for a moment, there a split second of silence where most everyone seems to hold their breath before the crowd erupts into cheers, applause, whistles, thrown cups and food. The Queen is standing before anyone realizes, with a flowering apple branch in her hand as she steps towards the end of the dais and motions for Benoit to approach, without saying a word.

*As the crowd erupts in whistles and applause Benoit is clearly in his element. He adores the attention, the passion, and the sense of joy and solidarity that temporarily washes over those gathered. As the Queen suddenly raises Benoit turns his focus on her, always mindful of carrying himself in a respectful and honorable manner, save for those occasional moments when his yearning for romance and the fairer sex compromise his good sense. Benoit begins to approach the Queen paying an occasional smile to those who meet his eye, including the Princess. The energy that was being released by the crowd might humble some performers but Benoit was use to his audience expressing unbound energy. On the rare occasion that energy could even turn violent or downright chaotic.*
*When he finally reaches the dais Benoit smiles almost bashfully at the Queen while giving King Caprican a respectful nod. He kneels on one knee and lowers his head for a moment*
My Queen I hope that my song pleases you, the King, the Princess, and all of Oleron. From the most impressive Magi and noble, to the most humble and hardworking farmer...and everyone in between! For if their is a more breathtaking or magical kingdom in all of Europe, I have not seen it.
*With that Benoit uses sleight of hand to pull a flower from his sleeve and toss it to the Princess, before giving his full attention to the Queen of the Apple Mile.*
